The Blue Hour (2021)
Perfumed necklace
Materials: polymer clay, resin, flower petals, silk pongee, velvet ribbon, 10ml glass bottle with self-composed perfume.
‘The blue hour is a particular moment of the day when the dying light has not yet given way to darkness, or the dawn has not yet broken the veil of night’.
A transition between life and death, dreams and awakening, circular and never-ending.
The scent inside this work could be described as dark and fresh: wet earth, warm aromas of exotic flowers and herbs, with a hint of ozonic undertones.
I work with flowers because even after their corporeal wilting they retain their form and texture. Their scent, their essence, their breath can be extracted and held.
In my recent research, petals are not only preserved but transformed — into pigment, into powder, into material presence. The flower shifts from aroma to matter, from fragility to substance.
There is no death, only a transition with a silence in between.
